The china made us feel like we were eating in a fancy restaurant, except we were in our jammies! We also broke out our Cake and Bear flutes from the wedding! A client of mine gave us a great bottle of French Bordeaux as a wedding gift so I decided to make a traditional Pommes Frites to go with it. That's French for steak and french fries. I know, keeping it classy! Gave me an excuse to use our new deep fryer too!
Dessert was the most exciting part though! I finally got to make this upside down spiced pear tart I've been lusting over for more than a year now I found on Pinterest. Here is the link to the recipe, try it out! It's also the reason I registered for a springform cake pan. It was the first time I had ever used molasses and boy does that stuff smell nasty! Cute bottle though . . . I was really unsure of the cake when I put it in the oven, mostly because of the molasses, but it turned out amazing!!! I had wanted to serve it on the cake plate from the wedding but it was buried somewhere among all the leftover vases and jenga pieces, but I served it on the cute cake plate my grandma gave me for Xmas last year so still a win. We did use the cake knife and server from the wedding though! I also served tea so we could use the tea cups too. The saucers are the best part of our china, trust me!
Matthew is a pretty awesome husband so far, but I'm not surprised since he was always an amazing friend, boyfriend, and fiancé! We call each other wife or husband as much as we possibly can. It's pretty gross and lovey dovey over here these days. We are having fun enjoying being newlyweds and talking about what we want to focus on next.
Sorry about all the pictures, but I was really proud of how everything turned out and wanted to remember it always. I don't know why other people blog, but for me it's more of a way to journal the great times in our lives where I don't have to worry about losing it and I can also share it with anyone else who is interested. Sorry, I just get a lot of crap about how many pictures of the yummy food I make ends up on facebook and instagram, so I'm gonna try to save that stuff for the blog instead.
So if you aren't interested, then go away! : P
Alright, have a good night, I'm gonna go have some more pear cake!
